Gift giving in our home

We have always wanted to make sure that our children understood that Christmas is so much more than getting presents. We have always done the following as a family:

1 gift they need

1 gift that is homemade

1 gift to eat

Well what about the gifts that they are wishing for, you may be asking yourself. These wish lists are given to their grandparents.

This year, because the children are a little older, we are doing a secret Santa among them. A secret Santa picks a name from a hat then makes something for that person and when their chosen person opens up their present then the secret Santa is revealed. I think the kids will have fun with this!
